Truth be told, I’ve been waiting a long time to do a blog post about Screen Door, I just actually had to go eat there first. Of all the places in Portland that are on “my list”, this place is the one place that I was most excited about visiting. Last week Luke had a co-worker in town from San Francisco so we all ventured out here for dinner. I have to say, it lived up to the hype. It was pretty delicious! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and everyone. We got SUPER lucky and only had to wait a few minutes for our table… I’ve heard stories of people having to wait over an hour to get in. So plan accordingly if you’re going to go.
Dinner @ Screen Door
Fried okra and hush puppies.
Shrimp and grits. My weakness.

Yum, I love The Screen Door! Did you try the fried chicken? It's probably their claim to fame, and the best thing on the menu!

I've been dying to try it! But I've heard about the nasty wait time so I've been hesitant. Good to hear it didn't take long for you!

This place is great for dinner, so I am glad you made it. Brunch is when the lines are astonishingly long. I tried going there awhile back for brunch and the line was – I kid you not – out the door and around the block. They said it was a 2 hour wait. Uh, no thanks!

I think the key might be to go at night for dinner… the brunch lines are the worst!
